I randomly stumbled across a manga called Black Bird, and for some reason decided to check it out. Reading it made me notice that there seems to be a disturbing, Twilight-esque trend of abusing women in fiction going on right now. And not just abuse, but not addressing the abuse as any real issue. So while at lunch today with my extended family (aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc.), I found out that at least four people in said extended family consider the Twilight novels "addictive".

Okay, regardless of whether or not you like Twilight (and by now it should be obvious where I stand on this), you have to admit that it is definitely NOT a kids' book. Despite that, it was nominated for and won "Best Book" at the Kids' Choice Awards (which I didn't actually watch btw, I just found the list of winners here). =_= WTF ( Read more... )
